DAEDALUS QUARTET

Praised by the New York Times as “luminous, insightful and vibrant”, the Daedalus Quartet has established itself as a leading string quartet of its generation, impressing critics and listeners alike with the technical finish, interpretive unity, and sheer gusto of its performances. Experience first-hand the tremendous emotional power and silvery beauty that has made this ensemble world-renowned.


The Daedalus has been invited to perform for the world’s leading concert series and music festivals and has won plaudits for its insightful and revealing performances of contemporary music. This concert will feature a landmark work by celebrated Jewish-American WWII veteran George Rochberg.

VISION QUARTET

Thursday, NOVEMBER 14, 2019  •  7:30pm


Founded in 2012 and based in Berlin, the vision string quartet has already established itself as one of the finest young string quartets of its generation. With a unique versatility that focuses on the classical string quartet repertoire alongside their own compositions and arrangements of other disparate genres, the four young musicians are on a mission to re-address with integrity how classical music is presented and perceived by both new and traditional audiences. Their distinctive characteristics of performing all their concerts completely from memory and standing up lend its performances an added intimacy and intensity which has been widely praised. The quartet's past season included its debut concert at London's Wigmore Hall, as well as important appearances performances in Italy, Israel, Copenhagen, Brussels and Germany.


TRIO SOLISTI: POSTPONED

In compliance with a request from Governor Gina Raimondo and the Rhode Island Department of Health, and out of an abundance of caution, we have postponed the Trio Solisti concert. Every effort is being made to to reschedule this concert and further announcements will be made with updates on the new concert date. 


Tickets purchased for this concert will be honored on the new date. Requests for refunds will also be honored by calling the Box Office at 401-278-4588.

We are extremely pleased to be able to welcome back the Trio Solisti, considered one the most exciting piano trios in America. Proclaimed by noted Wall Street Journal critic Terry Teachout to be "the group that to my mind has now succeeded the Beaux Arts Trio as the outstanding chamber music ensemble of its kind”, the Trio Solisti was founded in 2001 and enjoys repeat engagements at major venues and series across the world. Recent appearances in the United States include Great Performers and Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center in New York, Washington Performing Arts at Kennedy Center, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit, La Jolla Music Society, The Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. and Music at Kohl Mansion in San Francisco. 


FRISSON ENSEMBLE

Thursday, APRIL 23, 2020  •  7:30pm


Frisson is a nine-piece chamber ensemble featuring New York City's finest young classical musicians, all rising stars from the nation's leading music schools including Juilliard, Curtis, and Yale. Listen and enjoy as Frisson expands and contracts into a variety of mixed instrument ensembles, including quintets, sextets, and nonets of both winds and strings. The group will perform a diverse collection of rarely-heard masterworks that showcases the flute, oboe, and clarinet through gorgeous works by Debussy, Britten, Gershwin. The program includes Leos Janacek's magnificent virtuoso woodwind sextet "Mladi" and Brahm's Serenade Op. 11 for chamber nonet.
